MATA VAISHNO DEVI TEMPLE DARSHAN
Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, nestled in the Trikuta Mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, is one of the holiest shrines in India, attracting millions of devotees every year. The journey to the temple is a spiritual odyssey, combining devotion, faith, and breathtaking natural beauty.
Pilgrims undertake a trek of approximately 12 kilometers from Katra to the sacred Bhawan, where the revered deity resides. The trek is enriched by chants of "Jai Mata Di," peaceful surroundings, and various facilities to support pilgrims. For those seeking convenience, options like ponies, palanquins, and helicopter services are available.
Itinerary
Upon arrival at Jammu Railway station, drive to Katra. On arrival at Katra check-in to the hotel. In the Afternoon at 1 ‘0’ clock proceed to Helipad to catch the chopper for Sanjhi chhat. After reaching Sanjhi Chhat start trekking to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. After Darshan proceed back to Sanjhi chhat to catch the chopper for Katra. On arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
On this day after early breakfast proceed towards Shivkhori temple which is around 80 kms from Katra and takes 3 hrs each way to reach. Shivkhori translates as the cave of Lord Shiva. Along the way to Shivkhori, while driving to the holy place you will also visit two holy spots en route. Aghar Jitto (6 kms from Katra) which is the shrine of Baba Jitto. Next visit the shrine of Nau Deviyan (10 kms from Katra). On reaching Shivkhori you will be dropped at the start of the trekking point of the yatra to the Shivling which is around 4 kms steep trek. The yatra and darshan can consume time between 2 to 4 hours. After darshan return back to the starting point and transfer back to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Sonauli – Lumbini – Pokhara
